CPC Ranks as the #1 Chinese American Organization in NYCCPC is excited that we have been ranked the number one Chinese American organization in New York City by Documented NY, a non-profit news site, in a survey carried out this summer.The survey, which included responses from Chinese immigrants across the city, revealed a list of top organizations to recommend to a Chinese immigrant looking for in-language and culturally competent resources. CPC came out at the top of the list, which also included organizations like Chinatown Manpower Project, Asian Americans for Equality, and Homecrest Community Services.EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
SYEP Participants Visit Open Door Senior CenterOn July 27th, CPC Open Door Senior Center welcomed 8 young participants from the city's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). They took part in different classes and learned about the services provided by the senior center.
Director of Queens Community Services Mitchel Wu Joins the New York City Civic Engagement Commission Mitchel Wu, CPC's Director of Queens Community Services, was appointed by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards to the New York City Civic Engagement Commission to promote greater civic participation among city residents. Brooklyn Community Services Offers Vision Screening On July 25th, CPC Brooklyn Community Services collaborated with Helen Keller International to provide older adults with free vision screenings and brand-new prescription eyeglasses.
Manhattan Community Services Attends CBWCHC Good Health Day On August 8th, CPC Manhattan Community Services participated in Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC)'s Good Health Day at Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Chinatown to raise awareness of good health in the community and promote healthy lifestyles such as healthy eating and physical activity.
Brooklyn Community Services Joins Back to School Event On August 13th, CPC Brooklyn Community Services participated in a Back to School event at Leif Ericson Park in Brooklyn. This event, organized by the Parent Child Relationship Association, is designed to provide school information to parents and students and to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy fun activities together.
Hong Ning Housing Hosts a Carnival On July 29th, CPC Wellness Program at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly hosted a summer carnival to bring residents together and reduce social isolation and loneliness. Basketball and fishbowl toss were popular games among older adults.
CPC Queens Community Services Participates in the First Asian Autumn Gourmet and Cultural Festival On August 13th, CPC Queens Community Services took part in the First Asian Autumn Gourmet and Cultural Festival hosted by the Alliance of Asian American Friends in Flushing to celebrate Asian food and culture with the community and to let them know about the services we offer. Queens Special Needs Program Hosts a Summer Picnic for Friends and Families On August 27th, CPC Queens Special Needs Program hosted an annual summer picnic at Queens Botanical Garden for over 280 community members, families, and staff. The event was sponsored by Greater Hudson Financial and joined by New York State Senator John Liu, and Community Liaison Rosie Kim, on behalf of City Council Member Sandra Ung. CPC Receives $10,000 Grant from the National Automobile Dealers Association Foundation On July 30th, CPC received a $10,000 grant from the National Automobile Dealers Association Foundation (NADA) as designated by DCH Auto Group to further support CPC's efforts in providing high-quality programs and services to the community. CPC Board Chair Flora R. Si accepted the grant check on behalf of CPC.
CPC Partners with the Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) CPC partnered with the Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) to offer discounted tickets to its 45th Film Festival programs in New York City. In addition, we sponsored the closing night film and provided free tickets to staff for the screening.
