Faye Toogood Exhibition X Philadelphia Museum of Art

This exhibition will present the work of three young contemporary designers – Oki Sato (Japan), Faye Toogood (England), and Zanini de Zanine (Brazil) – who employ both industrial and artisanal materials and techniques to create functional objects with an emotional quality.

Dedicating a section to each individual studio, separate from but visually connected to the others, the exhibition will convey each designer’s formal and visual language. It will also include archival or process materials alongside finished objects, exploring the design process and “culture” of each studio and attesting to the skills of craftsmanship, material knowledge, and collaboration that these designers mobilize in their practices.

Design Currents: Oki Sato, Faye Toogood, Zanini de Zanine opens on the 19th November 2016 through to Spring 2017

Faye Toogood X 1882 Ltd

Faye Toogood's latest range of ceramic designs, Charcoal Storm, reinterprets traditional English creamware with a tempestuous motif that draws upon the chance patterns created when pigment added to the slip coating does not fully blend.

The dark whorls and eddies resulting from these experiments, like meteorological formations in miniature, make up the collection's central motifs, appearing on pieces including jugs, plates, bowls and cups. Charcoal Storm is available to buy from Selfridges this September.

Faye Toogood X Spade Bar Stool

We have received the first prototype of the Spade Bar Stool in sand cast aluminium. These will be available in naked, charcoal and malachite finishes.

Faye Toogood Workshop X Boisbuchet

Earlier this month, Faye Toogood's design workshop at Boisbuchet in France explored the notion of 'Soft Goods'. The participants created little maquettes, inspired by the walled garden in the grounds of the chateau, and then scaled these up into full-size seats using humble workshop ingredients.

Shakespeare X Selfridges

To mark the four hundred years after Shakespeare's death, Selfridges presents an urban reimagining of Shakespeare and his extant works, through a fashion lens. A collective of twenty international designer-collaborators will create scenes featuring new and archive showpieces to animate the store’s windows.

Toogood's exclusive capsule collection, inspired by Hamlet, is available to buy in store.
