CHANGES IN THE EQUESTRIAN WA OFFICE
Sarah Moore started this week as Events Coordinator and has hit the ground running with the upcoming Saddles Plus Interschools Championship and the Off The Track/EWA events underway with Lindsay Baxter's support in the lead up to the Interschools. Sarah has more than 16 years’ marketing and event management experience having been part of teams that have delivered large-scale events such as the Cale Street Festival, HyperFest and Motorvation. More recently, as the Project Marketing Manager for Vicinity Centres, she has led some of Perth’s largest shopping centre launch events including the opening of DFO Perth. Sarah comes from a well-known Show Horse family and has a lifelong association with the discipline. She is also an NCAS Preliminary Pony Club coach, previously coaching at Wallangarra and Gidgegannup Pony Clubs for more than 25 years (these days you will find her at the end of
lead-rope as her 5-year-old daughter commences her saddle career!) Sarah is thrilled to be joining the EWA team and is very much looking forward to working on some amazing events.
While we welcome Sarah to the team, we are also bidding farewell to Sharon Welsh, our High Performance and Athlete Development Officer. Sharon will be leaving the office to pursue a career in mining. Sharon has been a valued member of the EWA team for eight years, and we wish her well for the future. In the meantime, Anna Latto will be working in the role until a replacement appointed.

INVITATION TO JOIN A SURVEY ON HORSE ASTHMA
Did you know that horses can have asthma too?
An honours student at The University of Adelaide is currently working to determine how common equine asthma is in Australian horses and to identify the factors that increase the risk of developing this disease.
Equine asthma ranges in severity but commonly results in poor performance, chronic intermittent coughing and/or nasal discharge.
"You are invited to participate in a short 10-15 minute survey. It is hoped we engage with the greater Australian horse-owning population, to ultimately obtain information that represents the majority of horses in Australia. This survey will help to provide critical information to help improve the health and welfare of horses in Australia. Through the identification of common risk factors we anticipate that guidelines will be developed to help reduce the impact of this important disease."
Participants have the option to remain anonymous, answers will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and all data and results will be deidentified. Participants will also have the option of being entered into a prize draw, sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research and Barastoc Horse Feeds.
