COVID-19 Vaccines: Australian Government Department of Health Disability Provider Alert (2 March 2021) 

 

The Australian Government Department of Health (Department of Health) has today issued a Disability Provider Alert with updated information for disability providers.  

Key points

  • The Department of Health has issued a new Disability Provider Alert today.
  • People with disability and their support workers have started to receive the vaccine. 
  • You are invited to join a Phase 1a disability sector webinar on Thursday, 4 March 2021 at 3.30pm AEDT.
  • Disability residential accommodation providers can still provide data (or update information you have previously supplied) to support the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines as part of Phase 1a. 
  • The Department of Health will shortly publish a toolkit to support disability providers to prepare for the vaccination rollout. 

Disability Provider Alert factsheet

The Department of Health has issued a Disability Provider Alert. This factsheet contains the following information and advice: 

  • Phase 1a webinar: Thursday 4 March, 2021: All disability providers are invited to attend a webinar at 3.30pm AEDT on Thursday 4 March for the latest information on the Phase 1a COVID-19 vaccine rollout to the disability sector. 
  • Phase 1a COVID-19 vaccine data collection: If you are a disability residential accommodation provider who has not yet provided the requested data to support Phase 1 of the COVID-19 vaccines rollout, you can still do this via the online form. 
  • Disability Provider COVID-19 Vaccine Readiness Toolkit: The Department of Health will soon publish a toolkit to support disability providers to prepare for the vaccine.

We encourage you to read the fact sheet for full details. 

You are also strongly encouraged to talk to the people with disability you support and your workers about getting the vaccine. 

How the NDIS Commission is supporting the vaccine roll-out

The NDIS Commission is supporting the Australian Government Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine roll-out by sharing relevant information with registered NDIS providers that has been developed by other Australian Government agencies, including the Australian Government Department of Health.

Providers may receive this factsheet from other government agencies, including the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
