 1. UPDATE: future programmes at INI

There are two programmes currently underway at INI, with both scheduled to conclude on 21 December 2018. Before that point each will hold one final workshop, details of which can be found below.

> SRQW03 "Scaling limts & SPDEs: recent developments and future directions, 10-14 December 2018

From 3 January 2019 three new programmes will begin, with registration still open for many of the corresponding workshops. For full details visit each programme's homepage via the links below.

> MES - The mathematics of energy systems, January-May 2019
> ASC - Approximation, sampling and compression in data science, January-June 2019
> DNM - The mathematical design of new materials, January-June 2019

 

2. VIDEO: 10-month timelapse reveals the life of an INI blackboard

Previous visitors to the Isaac Newton Institute will be familiar with the 130 square metres of blackboards spread across building. But how much use do these iconic fixtures see from the programme and workshop participants? The answer is: a very great deal.

3. REPORT: VMV programme final report published

The "Variational methods and effective algorithms for imaging and vision" (VMV) programme ran from August to December 2017. According to its recently published final scientific report, the field "is thriving and the future is bright". Read more via the button below.

4. APPOINTMENT: INI director David Abrahams named chair of EMS ERCOM Committee

We are proud to announce that INI director David Abrahams (pictured above) has been appointed chair of the European Mathematical Society's "European Research Centres on Mathematics" Committee for the period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2022.

The committee's aim is to encourage communication and foster collaboration between European mathematical research centres and EMS itself. More information on its activities is available here.

 

5. VIDEOS: INI video interviews now available on YouTube

Beyond being available to view via our website, all INI-based video interviews are now also hosted on a recently launched YouTube channel. We would encourage you to "subscribe" and hope that this proves another convenient way to follow INI-generated content.

6. FACILITIES: Benians Court refurbishment update

The first phase of the Benians Court accommodation refurbishment is nearing completion, with a number of the flats involved now finished and occupied by INI visitors. Work is soon to begin on the three remaining groups with an aim to finish the project as a whole in early summer 2019.
