Waterloo Wellington ranked first in the province for: lowest time spent in the emergency department waiting for a hospital bed, lowest ratio of unexpected deaths in hospital, and Waterloo Wellington First in Ontario to Connect Community Mental Health DataFor the first time, primary care providers will have access to their patients’ mental health & addictions care data electronically, as a result of $190,000 in funding provided by the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN). "The idea for the investment came directly from our local primary care providers," said Dr. Sabrina Lim Reinders, Primary Care Physician Lead for the WWLHIN. "There was a gap in information that was making it challenging to best care for their patients - especially when patients expect their provider to have the information at their fingertips. Now they'll have it in one click." Read more about the initiative to connect mental health records electronically here. Resources to help providers and patients prepare for care needs over the holidaysPlanning for the holidays? So are we! We have launched our "Planning for the Holidays" webpage that will help Waterloo Wellington providers and residents plan for the holiday season, connecting patients with available resources. Everyone has a role to play in prevention, but when patients need care - it's our collective role to make sure it's there for them, even throughout the holidays.
