Is Heaven for Sale? The national press—perhaps looking for one last “lazy hazy” summer vacation headline—has seized on the “Greenland for Sale” story. Turns out American presidents have given serious thought to purchasing the “largest island in the world.” In 1946 President Truman quietly explored procuring that icy kingdom from Denmark and actually offered $100 million for it. Its strategic location between this country and the Soviet Union in the Cold War made it a tempting piece of real estate. Read more
New Student PicnicWe have started a tradition here at PMC of welcoming our new students with a delicious picnic on the lawn in their honor. This year's event is coming up soon, on August 24, and you are needed to make it a success. We still need 30 hosts to bring a lasagna/pasta dish, salad, and garlic bread to serve 10 people (including your family) at a picnic table that will be waiting for you. Drink and cookies will be provided. If you are not able to attend the picnic but would like to contribute some food, please indicate that when you respond, and we will follow up with you about what food you will supply and where to bring it. Thanks for making our new students feel a part of our family! Please RSVP by August 19. If you have any questions please contact Claudia at 269.471.3134.
Mark Your Calendar—A.M. Work Bee August 25The renovation crews are scurrying to finish their major summer projects inside and on top of Pioneer. But there are two huge clean-up needs not on their to-do lists. The first is outside—we need to weed around the church, plain and simple. You can't renovate
weeds—just pull 'em! The second need is inside—our PMC bathrooms. With all the summer trampings, they need some elbow grease to make them sparkle again.
Bring A Friend to Church Q&AWhat is a bring-a-friend-to-church day? This is a three-part sermon series beginning on August 31. Throughout the preaching cycle of a church, there are some series topics that are geared more for discipleship or other topics. This series is intentionally designed so you could bring your friends, co-workers, and family members. These Sabbaths are especially guest friendly because of the additional efforts to invite others, worship elements, and engaging all members to participate in being great hosts!
Lead A GROW Group! The school year is starting, and this year PMC and the AU Student Association are partnering to bring relevant GROW Groups to our community. GROW Groups are great opportunities to learn new skills and ideas, participate in active discipleship, and grow in community together!
