The keynote speaker at this year's FMX, Timothy Caulfield, Ph.D., has spent decades studying the spread and impact of health misinformation. He is currently leading a project to collect and evaluate information ― and misinformation ― about SARS-CoV2 and COVID-19 from multiple sources (e.g., social media, mainstream news outlets, search engine data) and determine which types of messages are gaining traction and why.

COVID-19 Updates

Utah sets a new single-day record for COVID-19 cases, with 1,960

Salt Lake Tribune - "The additional cases pushed Utah past a new milestone: More than 100,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported statewide since the pandemic began. Since March, when the first cases were reported in the state, 101,509 Utahns have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Utah unveils COVID-19 vaccination plan

Fox 13, Utah - "According to a presentation by the agency for the Utah State Legislature's Interim Health & Human Services Committee obtained by FOX 13, the state is preparing for limited availability at first and has prioritized health care workers who work with COVID-19 patients. Other care workers, including housekeeping and long-term care facility staff, would also be in the first wave." Read more...

 CDC Updates Its Definition of "Close Contact"

"Close contact" is now considered to be someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period* starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
