Creating memories is a wonderful thing. Many of us remember our childhood like it was yesterday. For those of us blessed with a Christian upbringing, we have memories of where we sat in church, who was in our Sunday school class or who had musk lifesavers in their pocket!

The Longest Lutheran Lunch is an opportunity to invite people you remember who used to go to church. It could be someone whose child was confirmed with yours. Maybe it’s that very confirmee whom you rarely see in church that you’d like to reconnect with and share the gift of service or hospitality with.

Personal invitations mean so much to some people, and sometimes all they yearn for is to be invited. It reminds me of the hymn, 'I come invited by your Word, to kneel before your altar, Lord. Receive me then, and bid me stay with you, the life, the truth, the way.'
