The announcement of Level 4 lockdown was a real blow, but for the team at Polson Higgs it is business as usual... from our respective bubbles. All being well, it will be a short, sharp lockdown, so we can once again return to business as normal.

Government support

The minister announced a range of support for businesses financially impacted by the Level 4 lockdown. These include resurgence support payment, wage subsidy and payments for workers taking Covid tests.

We are currently analysing the details of those packages and will have more detail shortly. However, so far we know that the Wage Subsidy Scheme will be available with applications able to be made from Friday 20 August (at the revised numbers of $600 per week per full-time employee and $359 per week for part time employees) where a 40% drop in revenue is expected as a result of the change in alert levels. The Resurgence Support Payment will also be available to help with fixed costs where a 30% drop in revenue occurs. The Leave Support Scheme and the Short-Term Absence Payment scheme may also apply.

Working from home
