It requires a bevy of specialized experts working together to achieve a successfully built project. That’s why communication and transparency are of the utmost importance in our field. Traditionally this is achieved through site visits, around a drawing table, and sitting face-to-face. To be clear, nothing replaces the efficiency and effectiveness of in-person communication. But here at RVi, we are leveraging technology to enhance project team communication and increase transparency in the design process. Through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or more commonly known as drones), 3D visualization, and Virtual Reality (VR), we are able to better capture, analyze, and communicate the design, which in turn creates tremendous value for our clients. RVi Names New Leadership in Houston OfficeBY CHRIS CRAWFORD RVi Houston was established in 2007, and over the past 13 years we have worked to build strong client relationships and develop a diverse portfolio of work. We have recently experienced a transition in leadership of our Houston office, and I am excited to announce our next chapter. I am pleased to introduce Roger Warner as the new head of our Houston office. A licensed landscape architect, Roger has over 26 years of experience and has been working in the Houston area since 2006. He has a diverse professional background, including having worked for design firm SWA, serving as Associate Director of Facilities for the University of Houston System, and operating his own private practice. Roger is joined by Houston native Brett Gehring. Brett is a talented Project Manager with over 12 years of professional experience in a variety of project types, from master planned communities to hospitality, academic, and recreation projects. Together, this team is excited to build upon RVi’s strong foundation in Houston and to continue the firm’s 37-year legacy as a premier local and national planning and landscape architecture firm. Be sure to download Roger’s and Brett’s contact cards and wish them a warm welcome. A Win for Wetlands: Deer Park Makes Bold Commitment to Environmental StewardshipBY MARK SMITH Earlier this month, the City of Deer Park, Texas hosted the grand opening of the Deer Park Nature Preserve. With Mayor Jerry Mouton, Jr. presiding over the opening ceremonies and dedication of the Dr. Billy Sealy Loop Trail on October 15, the event was well attended by citizens and local and county dignitaries. As the ribbon was cut, Deer Park’s first responders celebrated the opening of the new trail with a one-lap victory run. In Other NewsHappy Halloween! RVi Retreat Recap Earlier this month our whole team gathered at the scenic Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, just east of Phoenix in the Tonto National Forest. We rode horses, hiked, kayaked, fished, roasted s'mores, karaoked by the campfire, crowned a new Auctus Project winner, and basically had a blast. Stay tuned for more details next month...but in the meantime you can check out the shenanigans via our Facebook album. Welcome to RVi! Roger Warner has joined the Houston office as Project Director.
