NEWS DRAGONS OF SYDNEYEastern Water Dragons are impressive semi-aquatic lizards found near freshwater and in bushland along the eastern coast of Australia. While some native populations are in decline, there are others that have managed to thrive in Sydney's backyards. Participate in this important research study run by Council in association with National Parks and Sydney, Macquarie and Melbourne Universities. PAMPAS GRASS A THREATA worrying trend has emerged with the use of pampas grass plumes for floral wedding decorations. Sadly Pampas Grass or Cortaderia selloana is a serious threat to our environment. They produce up to 100,000 individual seed heads, easily spread by the wind and impacting our sensitive bushland. NEW 'RANGER VISION' APPThinking of ways to get your kids out and about in the great outdoors? The Ranger Vision app is a great way for them to become citizen scientists. The interactive tool allows them to take photos of birds, plants, reptiles and other wildlife. Developed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, it is also a great way for teachers to deliver exciting lessons in and out of the classroom.
