A big thank you to the City of Busselton for supporting Equestrian Sports in the South West with a Department of Sport funded Strategic planning forum. Our CEO was fortunate to attend a forum in Busselton with 12 local equestrian enthusiasts. The forum was coordinated by Pam Glossop and facilitated by Kim Buttfield.

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is offering a webinar that will assist in the effective and efficient operations of your sport or recreation club and who is committed to improving the organisation and how it does things.
A webinar is a seminar or presentation that takes place on the internet and allows participants in different locations, through their computers or ipads to see and her the presenter, ask questions on a designated topic.
The webinar will cover the following:
• What is a budget and the role it plays for your club
• Understand how to manage club funds – The role of the treasurer;
• Planning for setting and operating budgets aligned to club activities;
• Investigate the keys to financial stability – how to raise funds for the club;
• Understand how to assess the financial position of the club.

160 competitors represented 51 schools in more than 650 class entries at the Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian Festival and Combined Training Championship held at the State Equestrian Centre in the last week of April 2019. The event is a highlight of the year for many school age equestrian competitors with classes in jumping, combined training, show horse and dressage offered for both competitive and participant EA riders. The opportunity to be invited to represent Western Australia later in the year at the Australian Interschool Championships lures competitors from all over the state with strong contenders from regional areas such as the great southern, south west of WA and Geraldton all
sending teams of competitors to the event along with usual strong local contenders Swan Christian College and Court Grammar.
Saturday evening spectators enjoyed an exciting evening of entertainment at the Saddles Plus All Star Challenge. Inspiring rides from World Cup jumper Caitlin Bolger, FEI5* competitor Tegan Lush, FEI Dressage competitor Elizabeth Tollarzo and Australian Show Horse competitor Christine Lambert were well received and the horsemanship demonstrated by each rider swapping disciplines was outstanding.
The final day of competition at Sydney International Three-Day Event thrilled spectators in the Olympic arena with the contest tight right down to the wire.
The competitive fires were lit today with riders bringing their ‘A game’ for the cross country phase at Sydney International Three Day-Event.
The greatly anticipated Sydney International Three-Day Event certainly lived up to the high expectations with a beautiful sunny day providing a picturesque setting for the dressage competition on day one. Almost 500 combinations took to the arena at Sydney International Equestrian Centre for the opening phase of the competition.
