Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Welcome to Term 3!

I hope you all had a restful break and everyone is ready for a busy term ahead. On the last day of term 2 a letter was sent to all families regarding the Principalship. We were thrilled to find out that Therese Stewart was the successful applicant. Therese will formally begin her role here at the beginning of next year, but will be visiting our school at various times throughout the next two terms.

Sacramental Program - This Friday the following children will be Baptised: Kadey Macklin, Abella, Mia and Max Beckman, Judd Denke, Harry Rowan, Layla and Sam Thompson. We wish these students all the best for their special day and welcome them into our Church family.

Special Lunch -There will be a special hot dog and zooper doper lunch on Friday to celebrate our students who have been Baptised. There will be no cost for the special lunch.

Parent/Teacher Interviews - In the last week of Term 2, Parent/Teacher interviews were held. If you weren’t able to attend the interviews please make contact with your child’s teacher (by ringing the front office or sending an email) to organise a mutually convenient time to meet.

Kind regards,

Libby Hamilton

Religious Education

Week 1 Prayer

In 1980 Archbishop Romero was shot dead as he was celebrating Mass in his cathedral in the capital city of the Central American country of El Salvador. He was killed because he complained about the treatment of the poor by the government and army. We can call to mind that the word “martyr” is a Greek word meaning “witness”.

Around this date, in 1979, just 9 months before he was killed, Archbishop Oscar Romero talked about the witness of Christians, and he even used the phrase “if they kill your bishop”:

“If some day they take away from us our Catholic radio station, if they close down our newspaper, if they don’t allow us to speak, if they kill all the priests and the bishop, too, and you are left - a people without priests - then each one of you must be God’s microphone, a messenger, a prophet. The Church will always exist even if there is only one baptised person. That one baptised person would be responsible before the world for holding up high the banner of the Lord’s truth and justice.”

Let us pray:

Lord our God, we pray for the strength to hold to our convictions.  We pray, too, for the courage and determination to stand with those who suffer from injustice. In all that we do, Lord, inspire us to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen.
