Martha's Message

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year!

The children have had a wonderful start in 2017! Temperatures below 50 (for at least a few days) allowed teachers the opportunity to enjoy some “cold weather” activities in class and provide a little taste of winter.

We are looking forward to having everyone here for Open House and Art’s Night on Wednesday, January 25th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. In line with our "Readers Are Leaders" theme, each class has been studying a particular author. The evening of the 25th is a chance for you to tour the school with your children by embarking on a scavenger hunt through all the classrooms. Be sure to stop by Hope Hall where you can visit the movement room and music room for additional activities and the art room/hallway where you can view or purchase your student's framed art on display.

On the morning of the 25th, we will have the second Coffee and Conversation with Martha held in the Common Room after Birthday Book Chapel. This is just an informal time to talk about any observations or concerns you may have. Last month we had around ten parents and had good discussion on standardized testing.

This month, you can also purchase tickets to the Parent Social, "Havana Nights," which will be held on February 24th at Atlantic Beach Country Club. One tradition of the Social is for parents to purchase reserved parking at Stormes Hall and McCormick Hall for the year. Please be respectful of that purchase and refrain from parking in the reserved spots during the school day, even if for just a quick minute.

Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Fondly,

Martha Milton
