Single Handed Race #2

Well, what a difference a couple of weeks makes. Gone are the drifting events where the wind barely ripples the water. We're into spring conditions now.

Five boats made the line for Single Handed Race #2. Conditions were 12-15 at the start and built to a solid 25 by the time the fleet reached the windward mark. There was carnage: Murmur (Doug Murray) reported blowing out a head sail. Sweet Pea (Tim Petersen) commented "just glad to survive that" upon arriving at the dock.

Congratulations to Dare Dare (Nico Popp), Knot to Worry (George Sutton), and Affinity (Rick Powers) for first through third, respectively.

The next race in this series is 15 June.

We have re-organized lockers, thanks to David Payne and Fabian Pease; a cleaned and degreased BBQ area, thanks to Keith and Pauline Jones; a cleaned up galley thanks to Davina Morgan-Witts; clean windows in the Oates room thanks to Doug Murray; cleaned up trophy cases thanks to Peter Nardini; scrubbed galley mats and recycled a lot of old paint thanks to Dan Lockwood; and cleaned and polished chairs in the lounge thanks to Ralph Lewis and Carol Petersen. Also a thank you to my lovely bride Carole for bringing some great pizza over to feed the crew for lunch.

The Club is looking shiny and I am thankful for all of those who gave their time last Saturday to lend a hand.
