St John's School Newsletter Term 2 Week 6 St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. Principal's Message Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to Nic Asquith - On Friday, we welcomed Nic Asquith to our staff. Nic will be replacing Dannielle Anderson, as a Teacher Assistant in the Senior Learning Area. For the last two years Nic has been working at our school every week completing an AFL Traineeship, so he is very familiar with the workings of our school. We wish Dannielle all the best and thank her for her time here. Goodbye Sineth - Tomorrow we say goodbye to Sineth. Sineth and his parents Chamil and Dilhara are moving to Hamilton, where Sineth will attend St Mary’s School. We will be very sad to see Sineth go and the cricket games at lunchtime, regardless of the time of year, will never be the same without him. We wish Sineth and his family all the very best for their new life in Hamilton. Head Lice - We have had head lice cases reported at school. Please make sure that you are checking your childrens hair frequently. Thanks for your cooperation. Divisional Swimming - Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed at the Regional Swimming Carnival in Seymour last Friday. Mrs Watson and the school were very proud of everyone. We wish Kadey Macklin, Macey Watson, Lily Asquith and Matilda Riddle all the best as they compete in the Hume Region Swimming event at Shepparton on Wednesday. CyberSafety Police Visit - Yesterday, Senior Constable Paula Allen spoke to the Middle and Senior students. Paula Allen was impressed with our students interest in navigating and staying safe on social media. We are grateful to Paula for giving up her time each year to come and speak to our students. If you have any questions about the program please call Louise Frewen at school or email lfrewen@sjeuroa.catholic.edu.au Foundation Students - A reminder that this is the last week that Foundation students will have a rest day on Wednesdays. Happy Birthday to the following students! No birthdays this week. Congratulations to: Mia, Addison, Bridie, Murdoch, Max, James & Harper Jump Rope for Heart will run in PE classes from now until the end of term! Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs. It is OPTIONAL for you to register your child on line. We understand that not everyone is in a position to raise funds. There are some prizes for students who would like to raise money online, but there is no expectation for any child to do this. If you want to support the Heart Foundation, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
