Hutt Valley Business Weekly

Kia Ora ,

Celebrating milestones are important and we are doing this today. We have just reached 80 YEARS supporting the Hutt Valley business community.

Celebrating 80 years of supporting the business community in the Hutt Valley is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment of everyone involved.

There are too many people to thank individually but thanks to all the businesses that have supported our work and the wider Hutt Valley business community. Thanks to our current and past board members who have given up their time and wisdom to support our work. And thanks also to our current and past staff who have work hard every day to make everything we do possible. Without all of you, our work would not be as enjoyable as it is.
The Hutt Valley will have changed a lot over 80 years, and it continues to change. We have so much good stuff happening across our business community and so much to look forward to.

I and the team here at the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce look forward to continuing to support and celebrate you and the Hutt Valley business community for many years to come. We absolutely love what we do for you.

You can celebrate your business and the Hutt Valley business community with us by entering the 2degrees Wellington Regional Business Excellence Awards 2023.

Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi – Registration of Interest

Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi is a significant, multi-year alliance between Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Greater Wellington Regional Council, Hutt City Council, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, AECOM and Fletcher Construction. The purpose of the project is to transform Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt by providing better flood protection, enabling urban growth and improving transport safety and connections in the central city and around the Melling Interchange.

While the Alliance has the means to deliver key portions of the work, one of our key objectives is to develop a Healthy and Sustainable Supplier Market. To achieve this, the Alliance would like to invite subcontractors, subconsultants and suppliers interested in participating in the project to submit a Registration of Interest (ROI) to join the projects Registered Supplier Pool.

The Registration of Interest (ROI) period is open for two weeks from 28th July 2023 until 11th August 2023.

The Market Briefing Slide from 27th July 23 meeting can be found in the link below.

Please access the ROI via this link: https://forms.office.com/r/UGMb8pwvJP

For any queries, please email procurement@teawakairangi.co.nz

Hutt City Council's Draft Indigenous Biodiversity Strategy for your feedback

We are delighted to be able to share Hutt City Council’s Rautaki Kanorau Koiora Taketake / Draft Indigenous Biodiversity Strategy for your feedback.

We encourage you to let them know whether this draft strategy meets your aspirations for protecting and restoring indigenous biodiversity in our city.

The strategy and link to give feedback is at hutt.city/biodiversity until 20 August and we are keen to hear from as many groups and individuals as possible.

The finalised Indigenous Biodiversity Strategy provides guidance for Hutt City Council, Mana Whenua, community groups and the wider community to protect and restore our indigenous biodiversity. The strategy sets a shared vision and goals to guide us and identifies focus areas where we can work together to make a difference.

Innovative Young Minds – Connecting to Hutt Valley business.

Women are under-represented in science and technology in New Zealand. Innovative Young Minds has set about changing that with their programmes to support young women to research and career opportunities in STEMM in the most engaging and hands-on way possible.

They recently completed their IYM Residential 2023 programme where young women in Year 11 and 12 at schools from the Hutt Valley and Greater Wellington Region participated in a six-day residential programme. The students were lucky to visit some of the Hutt Valley’s amazing businesses including Fraser Engineering. What a great opportunity it was to see one of the Hutt Valleys leading manufacturing and engineering businesses in action.
