New release of medical and surgical specialists’ software launched

Best Practice Software has announced the release of Bp VIP.net v514, a major initiative for medical and surgical specialists in Australia and New Zealand.

Our CEO Dr Frank Pyefinch said it was an important step forward for users of Bp VIP.net in New Zealand and Australia. “Our Specialist software previously known as .net, VIP or Houston was recently rebranded to Bp VIP.net and this new release takes the software to the next level” Dr Pyefinch said. “Version 514 will bring to users new and improved functionality that will enhance practice productivity and staff efficiency. This update has been successfully tested by multiple customers over multiple specialties and, in response to their positive feedback, we are now releasing it to all our Bp VIP.net customers”.

Current users of Bp VIP.net will be sent a letter with the link to upgrade their current version of VIP.net. “They will also be sent documentation on new enhancements in Bp VIP.net and any fixes of identified issues” said Dr Pyefinch. “Our Support Teams in New Zealand and Australia will be on hand to help with any queries regarding the update”.

When the new version of Bp VIP.net has been installed, users will also be able to access the new VIP Knowledge Base in the Help menu, by selecting Online.

New features include:
• The Kiosk function, which allows users to design forms that connect to Bp VIP.net through a tablet that patients can complete to assist you in recording patient demographic information. (Best Practice Software will provide examples of the Kiosk UDF to help with design of customised clinic kiosk forms
• Enhanced Graphing for all specialties of monitoring and pathology results.
• Enhancements to the Daystay functionality and Medical Claiming.

Major improvements with Bp Allied

Great news for Bp Allied customers.  The final patch in our series of updates to rectify the performance issues within the appointment book of Bp Allied Version 5 has been released and is now available for download via "Check for Updates" within Bp Allied.

The issue was directly related to new functionality within Practitioner Availability which allows you to enter a Note for each time slot.  As this has had significant impact on performance, we have had to remove this feature.  We apologise to anyone who is currently utilising this and would invite you to contact us to discuss a work around.

For a full list of 'What's New' please click here.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past few weeks while we have worked to fix the performance issue.

Please contact our Support team if you have any concerns: 1300 40 1111 in Australia and 0800 40 1111 in New Zealand.

Bp Premier Lava Update

The rollout of Bp Premier Lava has been very well received. If you’re yet to ‘take the plunge”, here are some hints and tips when upgrading to Lava SP1:
• We suggest you upgrade at the end of a provider pay period as the new management reports collate the information differently and therefore reduce the number of reports you run to pay your providers. (Only when upgrading from Summit 2014)
• The server and all client machines must be upgraded after hours
• Read the documentation supplied in the Knowledge Base articles prior to upgrading.
Lava SP1 Release notes are located here, this includes Known Issues and workarounds at the end of the document
• If you use Bp for appointments and billing, tick ‘Install Bp Premier Online Claiming Module’ when upgrading, to ensure the Medicare Adapter is updated

Make yourself a tea or coffee, sit back, relax and have a read of some of this month's hepful tips from the Bp Support Team.

Tip #1: Medicare Online Claims
When batching Online claims to Medicare, you may have received an error (Error 9341 – More information required).  To successfully send the online claiming batch you will need to enter service text on the respective billed item.  This will be resolved in a future version of Bp Premier but, in the meantime, as long as you put something in the service details box (even a full stop will suffice), you will be able to lodge your online claiming batch.

Tip #2: Information at the ready
When calling Bp Support please have the following information available:
• Site ID eg. BPS-95401
• Build number eg 1.8.6.801
• Your name
• Job number if applicable (Starting with CS-xxxxx-xxxxx )
This will help us provide the best support possible. The instructions to find your Site information in Bp can be found here.

Tip #3: Nash certificate expiry
Check your NASH certificate expiry… as the current Practice Incentives Program (PIP) payment quarter ends 31st October 2017.

If your practice receives the eHealth Incentive you will need to have your allocated number of Shared Health Summaries uploaded by this date.

Please check your NASH certificate expiry date and functionality so your practice can meet this deadline. Visit our Knowledge base here for instructions how to check your expiry date. If you are receiving errors visit this page to troubleshoot eHealth or resolve HI errors.

General information about the Practice Incentives Program can be found here.  If you require assistance with your NASH PKI certificate call Human Services on 1800 700 199.

As always, the Bp Support team are here to help: 1300 40 1111 in Australia and 0800 40 1111 in New Zealand.
