St John's School Euroa Newsletter Term 3 Week 4 St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. Principal's Message Dear Families, I can’t believe where we are at the moment. I never would have thought that as a teacher I’d have to wear a mask and face a second round of remote learning. Let’s keep working together and following the guidelines to keep each other safe. Now that we are heading into remote learning, the newsletter will now be published on a fortnightly basis as we are finding it more and more difficult to write each week. We will continue to keep you updated via Facebook, email and our school app. Remote Learning - Due to the re-introduction of Stage 3 restrictions, please note the following key points: Tomorrow, Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th August will be Student Free days for teachers to prepare for remote learning. Thursday 6th Remote Learning begins. Friday 7th Electrical Upgrade. No remote learning or on-site student supervision. On site supervision - We are currently awaiting guidelines from the Victorian Government regarding on-site supervision. We anticipate that the guidelines will be much stricter this time in order to bring down Caronavirus numbers. When we have received the guidelines, we will release documentation to parents. A reminder that if you are working/learning from home, you must keep your children at home. Students who come to school will still be taught remotely. An application form for onsite supervision will be released later today via email and Facebook. Completing the form does NOT guarantee supervision for your child. If you are seeking care for your child we strongly recommend you find alternative arrangements where possible. TheirCare - TheirCare are offering full day care for students tomorrow from 7am to 6pm and possibly Wednesday. Please register through the TheirCare website as soon as possible, as numbers are limited. RE Review -Tomorrow our school will undertake a Religious Education review. David Walker from Catholic Education Sandhurst will lead a panel in reviewing the Religious Education practices at our school. This review will be held remotely, where Louise Frewen will present to the panel a snap shot of what happens here at St John’s. Louise has been working hard on this review for a number of weeks and presented her work to the School Board last week. Office - Andrea will be out of the office for a number of days over the next couple of weeks learning about the new administration system that is being installed, this will bring us in line with all other schools in the state. Brenton and I will be doing our best to fill her shoes. Lighting in the Mercy Centre - On the weekend Mick Hamill will be upgrading the lights in the Mercy Centre. The lights have not been changed since it was built in the 80’s. These lights will be more energy efficient and the quality of light produced will bring us up to an acceptable workplace standard. Thanks Mick. Photos - Our school photos were scheduled for this Wednesday 5th have now been postponed until November 18th. Have a great week and take care! Libby St John's acknowledges the Taungurung People as the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, play and live. Calendar of Events
Religious Education Week 4 – Feeding of the Five Thousand: Matthew 14:18-21 Jesus never met a crowd he couldn’t satisfy. If they were ignorant, he taught them. If they were sinners, he forgave them. If they brought their sick, he healed them. If they were hungry, he fed them. Jesus brings life to the world to match its need, the hungry person can only experience God through bread. Neither the finality of death nor the harshness of life can overcome the gifts he offered. That’s why the miracle of feeding a crowd of five thousand, as grand as it is, is dwarfed by generations of people who’ve been fed by Jesus since. We are hungry: you fill us with the bread of life. We are thirsty: your Word will fill our spiritual thirst. We are lonely: your community will welcome us. We are downtrodden: we will know support. We are apathetic: we will find direction and energy. We are lacking determination: we will feel our confidence surging back.
