Workshop works wondersLed by our fabulous facilitator Laura, it's been a productive few weeks delivering our Health Promotion 101 training workshops. The response from our Sport and Art partners was fantastic, with 122 people participating across four workshops in August and September. HyperVision youth exhibitionDrug Aware HyperVision is a youth art exhibition and competition created by the City of Swan in partnership with Healthway. Artists were encouraged to submit works that discuss, display and explore the concept of 'self'. The exhibition is now showing at the Midland Junction Arts Centre until 26 September. Find out more. New Food Community WebsiteThe new Food Community Website provides information and resources about food security, details opportunities to connect and collaborate locally, and ideas on how you can advocate for improved healthy food availability, access and use for all. Grandparents serving up healthA Healthway-funded Curtin University study, in partnership with LiveLighter, Cancer Council WA and Cancer Council Victoria found that over 80% of grandparents feed their grandchildren meals or snacks several times per week. This provides a great opportunity for grandparents to help shape the healthy eating habits of their grandchildren. Find out more. Your guide to healthier eventsIn partnership with the WA School Canteen Association (WASCA) we work with many partner organisations to increase healthy food options at events. To make this process easier, WASCA developed the Healthier Vendor Guide and Event Organiser Guide to help organisations choose food vendors at events wisely, and promote the availability of healthier food and drink options. Find out more. School holidays surf squadSurf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) works in partnership with Healthway to promote the SunSmart message. This October school holidays SLSWA will launch Surf Squad, a coaching program for WA members aged U12 – U15. Go for 2&5 LEGO Challenge The challenge is on for young people to create their best LEGO build, responding to the theme 2 fruits and 5 vegetables. In partnership with Healthway, FORM worked with WA Lego Masters Jackson and Alex to create their amazing LEGO Masterpiece the 'heart machine'. Super SunSmart grantsIn partnership with Tennis West, SunSmart Club Super Day grants are now open. The grants are aimed at encouraging regional and metropolitan tennis clubs to create thriving community hubs that are accessible, healthy, welcoming environments.
