Kenneth Hill Appointed to National Wireless Safety Alliance Board of Governors

Hill to Serve on Seat Reserved for the Utilities Technology Sector

(Overland Park, Kansas) - The National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) announced today that Kenneth Hill, Senior Project Manager at PPL Infrastructure Services in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has joined the organization’s Board of Governors. Hill was appointed to serve on the Board of Governors seat reserved for the Utilities Technology sector of the industry.

NWSA is a national non-profit assessment and certification organization that has been established to provide thorough, independent assessments of knowledge and skills and provide verifiable worker certification in order to enhance safety, reduce workplace risk, improve quality, encourage training, and recognize the skilled professionals who work on towers and other non-standard structures.

The NWSA Board of Governors consists of representatives from a broad cross-section of the industry and is tasked with developing policy and overseeing the activities of the various committees that will serve under their jurisdiction.

Kenneth Hill has over 30 years of experience in the telecom, electric and gas utility business. In 1999, Hill joined PPL in their unregulated businesses as a Business Developer and Project Manager establishing outside new business opportunities for Electric High Voltage Substations, Fiber Optic routes, and PCS Cellular construction with other companies within the PPL service territory. Mr. Hill’s current duties at PPL Infrastructure Services include oversight of all unregulated cell tower leasing, engineering, construction and maintenance activities.

Hill is also an active member of the Utilities Technology Council’s (UTC) Utilisite Council. The UtiliSite Council is an independent operating unit of UTC that provides learning and collaboration opportunities that affect wireless collocation, joint use or pole attachments and fiber lease opportunities.

“I am honored to join the NWSA Board of Governors and look forward to utilizing my extensive experience with infrastructure services to bring these national certification programs to workers in the utilities telecom market,” said Kenneth Hill.

“Kenneth Hill’s background and experiences are tailor-made for a leadership position on the NWSA’s Board of Governors and we are excited to have him on board,” said Don Doty, President of the NWSA Board of Directors. “With the addition of Mr. Hill, the NWSA Board of Governors will have all hands on deck heading into the launch of our first two certification programs,” added Doty.

The NWSA organization is the result of collaborative efforts between a broad coalition of the industry’s leading subject matter experts, companies and stakeholders representing wireless carriers, broadcasters, tower owners/vertical realtors, OEM’s, turnkey management firms, small contractors, tower technicians, public safety entities and industry associations.

In November of 2015, NWSA and NCCCO began offering co-branded CCO Rigger and Signalperson Certification programs. These programs have the distinction of becoming the first two assessment and certification offerings available to the wireless industry’s workforce through NWSA.

The NWSA’s Telecommunication Tower Technician I (TTTI) and Telecommunications Tower Technician II (TTTII) certification programs are slated to be launched in the marketplace in late December of 2016. Other assessment and certification programs NWSA will likely unveil in the future include Antenna & Line Foreman, Tower (Stacking) Foreman, Structural Modifications Foreman, DAS Systems, Small Cell Systems, Broadcast Structures and Outside Plant/Fiber to the Home and Business.

Industry workers, companies and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the NWSA website at www.nws-a.org to learn more about the organization.
