Grow Ministries eNews

WELCOME to the JUNE eNews

Can you believe it is June already? Where has the year gone? What's been happening in your world? Have you been swept along by the busyness of ministry life and are just keeping up, or are you taking time to rest and be renewed with our Lord's strength? Sometimes we think we are too busy to pray or spend time in the Word, I know it's something I struggle with all the time. Really we are too busy not to! Take a moment now to stop, breathe and ponder on this one thing - My heavenly Father loves me! That's all, just rest in His love.

Last weekend I attended the Emerge Leadership conference hosted by Blueprint Ministries (SA Districts CYFM). It was an excellent day and the keynote speakers Bel & Phil Thomson were fantastic. I had the privilege of doing a workshop with Bel and was really challneged to remember the Sabbath, to take time to rest and recharge. This devotion came across my email and also really spoke to me about this, click here if you would like to spend some more time thinking about this.

God bless and take care, Vicki

CROSS + GENERATIONAL MINISTRY

There are loads of articles out there about cross + generational or intergenerational ministry that encourage programs where more than one generation intereact in the same place at the same time. While this is a good place to start, perhaps we need to think about  encouraging a cross + generational culture in our faith communities.

Here are some interesting articles that talk about this idea:

Snowballing culture

Faith formation across the generations

GROW MINISTRIES NEWEST RESOURCE

Grow Ministires is very excited about our newest resource 'Faith Trail Ministry'.

Faith Trail  Ministry provides a way to celebrate with families in your congregation the promises made in baptism. Parents and children are invited to attend a Faith Trail Minsitry event each year following their child's baptism. These spiritual marker events help to equip families with resources for sharing their faith stories.

Each Faith Trail marker resource is based around the following outline:

  1. Naming and Marking the spiritual markers in the lives of children in your congregation helps to create rituals and traditions that shape them and give them a sense of belonging to the family of God.
  2. Equipping provides an opportunity for learning related to the trail marker, builds community, invites conversation and brings generations together. It equips families with take-home resources to use in their everyday lives.
  3. Blessing the child and marking the occasion in worship communicates that faith and life are woven together. God is present in all of daily life, making the ordinary sacred and the sacred ordinary.
  4. Gifting is a tangible way of providing a symbol and a reminder of the occasion being marked. Gifting serves as a resource for the ongoing nurture of faith in daily life.
