Contemporary artist Daniel Biddy creates mixed media works that incorporate elements of collage, oil painting and drawing.
The most recent public collection acquisition of the artist's work was The High Museum of Art, Atlanta.
Born out of a "preoccupation with looking, a subdued mania for collections, and an integral compulsion to arrange groups of things", Biddy works in collage. His palette is largely gathered from printed media, imagery is recycled, re-purposed, re-contextualized. Equal time is spent collecting, selecting, and assembling materials.
“Collage is a supersensitive and scrupulously accurate instrument, similar to a seismograph, which is able to record the exact amount of the possibility of human happiness at any period.” - Max Ernst
