Martha's Message

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful celebration we had Monday with our guests who joined us for Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day! Our children are so fortunate to have family members and adult friends who are so involved in their lives and well-being. I must also say that it was an incredible treat to share this special day with my own grandchildren who attend BES.

In the homily during chapel, I spoke of the many blessings our children receive by being part of healthy relationships with family members and friends, including unconditional love, having a mentor who will stand beside them and be their champions, and being a window into the childhoods of our students' parents.

One of my favorite quotes is from an article called "10 Ways Grandparents Influence Their Children’s Faith," by Marta Perry. She states, “In a world of overworked parents and overscheduled children, a grandparent can be an oasis of calm. One mother says, 'Thank heaven for grandparents who are willing to rock a fussy baby or just sit and build blocks with a toddler.' As grandparents, we aren’t necessarily called to know the results, only to be faithful in planting the seeds.”

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to open our doors to your friends and family so that they could see first-hand the work we do with your children on a daily basis.

Our Grade Level Coffees have been well-attended and very informative. If you didn’t get a chance to come, you can view them on our website to learn more about our academic program.

Finally, be sure to check the online calendar often for important dates and events. February and March are going to be very busy, and we don’t want you to miss anything.

Fondly,

Martha Milton

Athletics Update

The Rays Flag Football team played hard and scored a touchdown on the final play against St. Marks Episcopal's Yellow Team on Tuesday. I'm so proud of their effort and teamwork! They'll play again next Tuesday at JCDS at 4:30 p.m., so come cheer them on!

The Rays volleyball teams will play today at JCDS. We play in a jamboree of games starting at 4:30 p.m. Come cheer on the teams! The jamboree is a fun atmosphere. There are 6 schools participating. This is a great way to compete and meet new friends.

February Fitness starts today. Your PE student was given a calendar with exercises to complete during the month of February. You can make it a family event and all work out together. Have your student demonstrate the exercise and modify as needed. The students will turn in their completed slip on Monday to the front office, and on Tuesday we will draw a winner. Have fun!
