Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updates to Public Health Directions for Queensland

The Queensland Government has lifted restrictions on some areas affected by Public Health Directions.

Key points

  • The Queensland Government lifted restrictions previously in place for healthcare facilities including disability accommodation services and residential aged care facilities in a number of areas.
  • Seven local government areas (LGAs) have now been removed from the list of Queensland’s restricted areas under a Queensland public health direction.
  • It is a condition of registration with the NDIS Commission that you comply with the laws of the state in which you operate, including Public Health Directions.

Seven regions removed from list of COVID-19 restricted areas

From 8.00am on 17 September 2020, the Queensland Government removed seven LGAs from the list of restricted areas pursuant to the powers under s362B of the Public Health Act 2005 to assist in containing, or to respond to, the spread of COVID-19 within the community. This direction identifies Queensland COVID-19 restricted areas for disability accommodation services and residential aged care.

The seven areas removed from the list of restricted areas are:

  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire LGA
  • Goondiwindi LGA
  • South Burnett Region LGA
  • Southern Downs Region LGA
  • Toowoomba Region LGA
  • Western Downs LGA
  • Gold Coast City LGA

The full list of restricted areas and details on the Public Health Directions is on the Queensland Government website.
