Council of Europe issues guidelines to prevent radicalisation in prisons

The Council of Europe today issued a set of guidelines to its 47 member states to prevent the radicalisation of prisoners and people under probation, and rehabilitate individuals who have already become radicalised. CEP has taken part in its advisory role at the PC-CP and through out the discussions at the Directors General meeting held in The Hague, last November 2015.

Final conference STEPS II project

On 3-5 February 2016 the final conference of the “STEPS 2 Resettlement” project  took place in Bucharest. Delegates from all over Europe gathered in the impressive Crown Plaza hotel of the Romanian capital to discuss the effective delivery of the Framework Decision 909 on the transfer of prisoners, and to launch ideas for the “handbook for offenders”  – a publication aimed to be produced as one of the results of the project.

Workshop on the use of e-learning

CEP and EuroPris are happily and proudly looking back on a successful workshop in Dublin (Ireland) on the use of e-learning for the training of Prison and Probation staff. The workshop presented a mixture of presentation from experienced e-learning providers to the ones that just took the first steps with e-learning. In combination with a market place where the e-learning programs could be seen and 'touched' the workshop provided for useful guidance for the participants.

International Anniversary Symposium of Probation in Turkey

The Turkish General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Probation Service with a Symposium that was held from 8-10 December in Istanbul.

The aim of the symposium; in order to interchange the 10 year-experience of Probation with the stakeholders in the international platform, especially with the countries in the region in its 10th year of establishment, to share the good practices in Europe and in the world, to evaluate the studies of the local and global academic circles in this area; is to gather the academics and professionals, share the latest studies in the world and exchange experiences in a negotiation climate.
