City of Swan HyperFestThrough our partnership with the City of Swan, the Drug Aware Hyper event returned this year with local acts headlining three small music festivals. The event was an enjoyable festival for young people and provided a unique opportunity for education and promotion of a drug prevention message. Find out more. Innovation Challenge ProgramDepartment of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway will work in partnership to deliver a new Innovation Challenge Program. Through the program we are looking to support innovative ideas that create physical activity opportunities for inactive young people, girls and women across Western Australia. Find out more. Geraldton Athletics Centre received a grant in November and wasted no time putting healthy food and drink options on the menu for local athletes and the community to enjoy. Football West partnership Football West and Healthway will work together over the next two years to implement an innovative campaign based around mental health, club environments and priority communities. The initiative aims to transition e-sport football video gamers from the couch to the pitch. The Think Mental Health campaign will support the mental health of players, coaches, referees, volunteers and the wider football community. Find out more. Image: Cancer Council WA's Crunch&Sip March Munch. Crunch&Sip March MunchMarch Munch challenges local students to eat vegies every day during their classroom Crunch&Sip break. Western Australian primary schools are encouraged to register their class before the 22 February 2021 to receive a free event pack filled with colour-in calendar cards, lesson plans, stickers, prizes and more. Tobacco-Free WA by 2030Healthway works in partnership with The Australian Council on Smoking and Health (ACOSH) to support a smoke-free Western Australia. ACOSH released their 10-Point Plan for a Tobacco-Free WA by 2030. The overall goal is to phase out the sale of cigarettes by 2030. Smoking is still the leading cause of preventable death in Australia, causing over 20,000 deaths each year, including 1,500 in WA. Find out more. Enhancing health through artThrough our partnership with the North Midlands Project, the Act Belong Commit Soulcircle workshops are now available. The workshops are part of Ebb+ Flow, a program that uses the creative and collaborative nature of arts to enhance health and wellbeing in regional communities. Find out more. Being SunSmart the keySurf Life Saving WA has teamed up with Healthway to promote the SunSmart message through the UV is Key – SunSmart Nippers and Youth Competition. Nipper (5-12) and Youth (13-17) members are encouraged to get involved and record their SunSmart behaviours across the week for the chance to win a Nipper board or a Surfboard. In line with other state public sector agencies, Healthway is following the caretaker guidelines. During the caretaker period, we will continue to receive and assess grant funding applications, however funding decisions will be deferred until after the caretaker period has ended.
