Dear Community, ACTION remains very active as we transition to a more chronic phase of COVID-19, and begin to normalize some of our institutions, including healthcare delivery. If you haven’t already visited Basecamp (or the COVID-19 webpage) to see the library of ACTION-related FAQ’s and infographics, we encourage you to do so, as they may be of use at your institution. ACTION work on the waitlist is in high gear, with the Donor
Decision Project emerging from the planning stages into implementation, including a regular webinar to review donor offers. Again, see Basecamp for details. There is also progress on the Heart Failure front, as we are working towards a PHIS-ACTION data extraction, and planning initial QI work in this area. Additionally, spurred by COVID-19 but also extending far beyond the immediate crisis, we are working together with PHTS to develop a cohesive approach to telehealth as it can be applied to VAD, waitlist and transplant care. On June 11th, we are very excited about hosting the first in our new virtual series ACTION Learning Sessions. Led by David Peng, these will focus on a variety of timely and timeless topics, starting with a
look at Fontan VAD patients. Ari Cedars will be presenting, and panelists include Pirooz Eghtesady, Ryan Davies, Sharon Chen, David Morales, Jodie Lantz, and Christina VanderPluym. We hope you can join us and help make it a success. As always, stay healthy and well! Regards,
Join us for VIRTUAL learning sessions!
The best way to improve outcomes is to share what we have learned quickly and openly. In these learning sessions, we will showcase and discuss the latest ACTION data, initiatives, best practices and clinical conundrums with our community. Registration for learning sessions is required. See registration info below or visit our learning sessions webpage for more details.

Quality Improvement Updates
COVID-19 CallsThank you to those who continue to share learnings and experiences on the weekly COVID-19 calls with ACTION and PHTS! These calls are now moving to bi-weekly, with the next call on June 4th. Discharge CommitteeThe next Discharge Committee meeting will take place on June 3, 2020. Please continue to enter data in REDCap on any patients who have been discharged. Stroke QI ProjectLeadership is diving into the Stroke QI work to better understand how we can reduce strokes even further. The stroke reduction work will re-launch in the next few months. Please continue to enter data into REDCap for your VAD patients. Telehealth ProjectThe telehealth project group had a very successful virtual design meeting on May 15th! The virtual 2-hour design session was the first of its kind for ACTION, and thanks to the
great participation, engagement, and collaboration of the group, we were able to define a SMART aim, drivers, and interventions for the project. We will be focusing on 2 interventions to start with; a checklist with criteria for defining which patients qualify for virtual visits and making education materials for patients/families. Thanks to Matthew O’Connor, MD, Deipanjan Nandi, MD, and Robert Gajarski, MD for leading this new group! Next steps and other details will be circulated to the participating teams soon – stay tuned!
