School Dental Screenings

In accordance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act, school dental screenings are back! For the 2022 - 2023 school year, the Dental Program will be screening all elementary school students (JK - grade 8). Our goal is to capture students who may have been missed during the pandemic and help decrease tooth decay and cavity rates within elementary students.

In addition to assessments, junior and senior kindergarten students in priority schools will be offered free fluoride varnish applications.

Visit our website for more information on school screenings.

During the summer, the Dental Team began visiting participating child care centres across Niagara again. Public Health offers children within child care and EarlyON centres free biannual dental screenings and fluoride varnish applications.

The collaboration between child care centers and the Dental Program aims to reduce cavities and help children establish good oral health habits from an early age.

Visit our website to learn more about the Fluoride Varnish Program.
