Utah's Governor Asked for My Help, and I am Happy to Give It

In his weekly COVID-19 press briefing on Thursday, Governor Spencer Cox called on medical professionals to volunteer to assist with Utah’s ongoing vaccination effort. As of today, 489,716 doses had been administered, which leaves hundreds of thousands of doses left to administer over the next several months. If the state receives the amount of vaccinations it hopes to in the coming months, they need a willing and able workforce to help get those vaccinations in arms – the arms of our patients, our family, and our friends. AAFP Congress of Delegates - Voting Closes Sunday, February 21

Emails have been sent to all active members. Make sure you check your spam folder if you have not seen the email with voting information. Contact UAFP if you have not received your ballot. 

 Three UAFP members have been nominated to represent the interests of your fellow Utah family medicine physicians at the annual AAFP Congress of Delegates this year! The candidate with the most votes will serve as Delegate and the candidate with the second most votes will serve as Alternate Delegate. Both Delegate and Alternate Delegate will serve for two years.  Meet all the candidates here. 

 

Represent Your Colleagues at NCCL this Year

As a practicing physician, do you fit into one of the following categories?

  • Women
  • Minorities
  • New physicians (in the first seven years of practice following residency)
  • International medical graduates (IMG), from schools outside the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico
  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) physicians or physician allies

If so, we would love to have you represent UAFP at NCCL April 28 - May 1, 2021! This year's conference will be held virtually.

Have a Project Idea That Could Use Some Extra Funding?

You could receive up to $7000 in funding from the AAFP Foundation Family Medicine Philanthropic Consortium for your project! Contact us if you have an idea and would like to submit a grant.

  • Student and/or Resident project: Focuses on education, research, and/or humanitarian opportunities for students (high school, undergraduate, or medical students) and/or Family Medicine residents.
  • Member Outreach project: Focuses on education, research, and/or humanitarian opportunities that target AAFP Family Physician members.
  • Public Health project: Focuses on the health of families and communities by promoting healthy lifestyles; conducting research and/or providing education for disease and injury prevention; and/or projects that are humanitarian or service in nature that improve health of individuals or communities.

    Deadline for grant applications is February 28, 2021, so contact us soon with your ideas.

Encourage Undocumented Patients to Get Vaccinated 

DHS and its Federal government partners fully support equal access to the COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine distribution sites for undocumented immigrants. It is a moral and public health imperative to ensure that all individuals residing in the United States have access to the vaccine.
