UPDATE
Costumers Fantasy Masquerade Ball

... so this weekend would have been it...
but alas who could have predicted #2020

*sobs in corner while clutching glass of Merlot*

When we starting planning this event in 2019 who could have possibly predicted what 2020 may bring and gosh hasn't it bought just about everything ...
... and we're only half way through !

New Zealand's early lock down and procedures has allowed us the freedom to move again freely around our own country, but for other countries it still ravages on.

When we made the call earlier this year to move the Masquerade Ball weekend to 2021, it was one that allowed us greater certainty (or hope) that the epidemic would by then have come under control and life would have returned to a new normal and our guests would be able to enjoy the weekend as it was supposed to be.

Today as a country, while we can move around freely, New Zealanders are not unscathed - many have lost jobs, hours cut, sales downturns, or generally still feeling the ongoing effects of the lockdown and covid-19 on their lives.

For our many Australian guests they still find themselves amid the epidemic, unable to travel both within states or to New Zealand, some still in lockdown, and with many restrictions on their lives.

So again I continue to feel the decision was right to move the event to next year - when we can hope all will have greater certainty of what the future beyond this year looks like.

On the upside, it has meant more time to work on your costumes, more guests able to attend, more time for Paul and I to work on the weekend 'frills and decorations'.

Together we will make next year SPECTACULAR !!

Have you joined the Attendees Facebook Group ?

A reminder once again of the Attendees Facebook group is here for you to use.
Its a place to post photos of your conceptions, your constructions and ask questions.

The more you use this group to interact now, the better you will get to know other attendees prior to the event and make new friends and contacts.

When I discovered the Los Angeles LOJ attendees page, I remember how exciting it was to see peoples progress, drawing inspiration from them, and it was from this group that page I've made so many amazing friends in California and afar.

Having glimpses of peoples costumes help us to identify others too.

Creatures of Atlantis - NOTE ABOUT THE POOL

I have been asked by the hotel to update guests on the terms of using the pool facilities on the Friday event

" Any persons entering the pool with a costume, make-up; body paints; or accessories which disintegrates; loses parts i.e. glitter, gems;  which colour runs or otherwise while in the pool; resulting in the need for the hotel to need to empty and/or deep clean it, may be liable for a cleaning fee of up to $10,000 * "

* the cost of emptying, cleaning and refilling it

I believe the message here is:
That unless your costume for the Friday evening is something you can / have worn over and over in the water, i.e. it's made swim-wear materials, mermaid tails, not made of any perishable items and been washed and tested a number of times prior,
Then it is safer to consider being land-based creature for the night - enjoy the 'mer-folk' who are in the pool - while happily sipping your drinks around the bar, while dancing, or lounging and/or dangling your feet pool side.

Personal note from Rozanne

Paul and I wish to personally thank you all again for your support of this event and sticking with us in the rollover to next years date.

The past few months have personally been a challenge for us so I apologise for not being quite as frequent with the communication the recent months as I would have liked....

Life post-covid / lockdown has continued to be a roller-coaster for us in ways we never predicted, therefore much has had to be pushed sideways while we dealt with urgent matters, in particular trying to evict tenant who we discovered let other stay at the rental property throughout lock down, level 3 and into level 2 who have systematically trashed every inch of the property. Having to fight the covid rental laws, dealing with tenancy tribunals and insurance and now starting the road to repairing the property.
Fun times... not!!

To top it off, my job of 8 years  at the local winery finishes next month...
... no more staff discounts for wine *sob*
I'm planning to take a month off to get everything ship shape again (and also move house ourselves / help mum sell her house / move mum into a lifestyle village) and then get back out there into the workforce !
During that time I will also resend everyone their updated 2021 Masquerade Ball tickets

SO yes, my heart goes out to everyone who are also are feeling the affects of COVID-19 on their lives - 2020 has been a year, and we're only half way through !!
We're feeling for ya'll
Definitely looking forward to 2021

Paul and I are taking this weekend off to spend some much needed time together.
We wish you all a wonderful weekend and look forward to meeting you all next year!

xx Rozanne

Please email or message us if you have any questions, ideas or suggestions.
And as soon as able I will respond :)

Kind Regards
