The leaves are changing, and Fall is in the air, and here at SERVE 6.8 we are already making plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Too soon you say? Considering the number of families SERVE 6.8 and our partner churches will be helping this holiday season, planning must start as early as possible. Did you know that over the next 10 weeks, our ministries will serve over 2,000 families across Northern Colorado? That’s an incredible number of families, and a big responsibility! For us to do a great job this season, we need your help. Whether its meeting with families in our sign-up processes, helping with food drives and gift packing, or meeting with families at churches to distribute their gifts, we need an army of team members to make it all happen. Do you want to know how to get involved at SERVE 6.8 and/or in your own city this holiday season? We will be hosting a special informational night for all serving opportunities related to Thanksgiving and Christmas at our next SERVE Track: Join us on Wednesday, October 23rd at 6pm at the SERVE 6.8 Resource Center and find out how to get you, your family and your church involved. We will also have some fun that night by enjoying a mix of Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities! Our opportunities to be relationally invested in the families we will serve are many, so let’s be people who put our faith into action while inviting families to become part of our local churches. I want to encourage you to remember the mission of the church: Yes, we are called to love our neighbor as ourselves, so we must help families with practical needs, not only at Christmas but year-round. But our help can’t stop at gifts or food, we must remember that the Gospel message gives people the only hope that can save them from the issues of today. No amount of stuff will ever fix what is broken in our hearts, only reconciliation to God through His son Jesus can do that!
So please join us in force the evening of October 23rd and let’s figure out how to pursue families this holiday season like Jesus would! Please R.S.V.P HERE.
