Text to Screen-Test has been facilitated by some of Australia's most celebrated actors and directors over the years.  Term 4, 2020 is no exception.  We welcome back to the studio Gold Logie Nominee Eve Morey.  A sublime actor, best known for her outstanding work as Sonya Rebecchi on NEIGHBOURS, Eve is also an onset coach on the show, assisting actors not only with their scene/character work, but with their understanding of how they live and work as artists within the community. We are incredibly excited to officially welcome her to Film & Television Studio International as one of our ongoing trainers/coaches.  Due to popular demand, the gorgeous Katrina Milosevic and Kym Valentine are back for Term 4.  There are very few Australian actors of Kyms generation that can boast a whopping 20 years dedicated to one Aussie drama. Of course we are talking about Libby Kennedy, a role that Kym made famous whilst starring on NEIGHBOURS. These days, in between auditioning for new roles, Kyms main focus is mentoring the next generation of performers breaking into one of the most demanding and competitive industries in the world. Kym is one of our most recognisable Australian actors; a true Aussie icon of the small screen.  Katrina needs no introduction!  We have loved watching her star as Boomer in WENTWORTH for the entire 8 seasons.  An incredibly talented actress of both the stage and screen, we are thrilled to welcome her back to the studio.

Television veteran, NEIGHBOURS Director & long-time trainer and Patron of Film & Television Studio International Simone Buchanan is also back for another fantastic term ahead.  Text to Screen-Test has been meticulously shaped to guide and encourage students to work on their specific areas requiring development, whilst bringing forth their strengths when screen-testing for prime-time drama.  Katrina, Eve, Kym and Simone will work with actors both individually and as a company, assisting students to POP from moment one of an audition. Scenes are assigned to students throughout the term block, along with prep work for each session. For actors who participated in previous terms, they have another opportunity to work in this ongoing manner with our outstanding trainers & special guests. Continuing across the terms ensures stability in training & rehearsal, and consistency in terms of the guidance & feedback offered, with scenes selected to target specific areas of weakness and strength. The studio also welcomes actors to the program who have not participated in previous terms as they can begin this process, leading to a stronger understanding of the requirements of screen testing.

On the last week of term, students will be able to put their hard work into practice during their screen-testing session with Craig McMahon, Artistic Director of Film & Television Studio International and CEO of top tier theatrical agency McMahon McMahon, together with NEIGHBOURS Executive Producer Jason Herbison.  Jason is a master of fast-turnaround television, and we are so incredibly lucky to welcome him back to the studio as our very special guest in Term 4.  It has been exactly 2 years since Jason was last in our studio, soon after which our very own Zima Anderson was cast in the show as the irrepressible Roxy.  This is an incredible opportunity for our actors to recieve direction and personal feedback on their work.  With so many students going on to work as series regulars and guest cast on the show, Jason has expressed that he is very much looking forward to seeing the exceptional talent we have at Film & Television Studio International.

SPECIAL GUEST: "NEIGHBOURS" EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, SHOW CREATOR AND WRITER JASON HERBISON.

Behind the scenes, Jason Herbison is the heartbeat of Neighbours.  His creative role as Executive Producer means that he is responsible for the show going into production for the majority of the year, ensuring that filming is completed on time, within budget, and to artistic and technical standards. As the show runner, he is also often the head writer.  Jasons writing credits include Neighbours (1998-2020); Home & Away (1995-2012); Shortland Street (1992-2010); Out of the Blue; Always Greener; Above The Law; Breakers; Pacific Drive; Echo Point and Paradise Beach.

Neighbours Spin-Off Series E-High was also developed by Jason Herbison. Degrassi meets Pretty Little Liars, E-High is a five-part series filmed at Fremantle’s Melbourne studio and centres around the lives of Ramsay Street’s youths, starring our very own students Lachie Millar and Nikolai Egel.

Most recently, UK broadcaster Channel 5 and Network Ten have co-commissioned Jasons latest brainchild, drama thriller Breathless. Created, written and Executive Produced by Jason, the four-part series is produced by Fremantlemedia and will start filming in Melbourne in 2021. It will be directed by Neighbours and Playing for Keeps director (and ongoing trainer af Film & Television Studio International) Scott Major.

Jason is a huge supporter of emerging performing artists, and appreciates and celebrates popular culture as much as we do!  He was instrumental in getting Neighbours back up and running in the midst of COVID-19.  It was the first English speaking show in the world to resume filming during these unprecedented times.  We are very excited to have Jason kickstart a new era of Film & Television Studio International in our new Albert Park studio.

During the series renewal talks, it was revealed that Eve would leave, and she pitched the story on how her character would exit. Her heartbreaking final scenes on the show earned her a Silver Logie Nomination for Best Actress and a Gold Logie Nomination. After her exit from NEIGHBOURS, Eve stayed on behind the scenes as an acting coach and mentor to actors coming on to the show. We are so excited to have Eve join our outstanding team of coaches.
