WellFest Adelaide returns to the city in October 2022
WellFest Adelaide, a celebration of wellbeing in the city, is making a return from 7 – 30 October 2022. This year, AEDA is giving businesses in the CBD and North Adelaide an opportunity to run an event or experience that aligns with wellbeing. If you are a retailer, hospitality venue, accommodation provider, fitness studio or gallery interested in getting involved, please join the 30 minute webinar on Wednesday 13 July at 8:30am.
AEDA and Game Plus boost diversity in SA's gaming sector
AEDA and co-working space Game Plus are breaking barriers through a new support program designed to drive diversity in the gaming sector. The initiative supports people who are not typically represented in the gaming world — including women, people of Aboriginal heritage, rural residents, and individuals in disadvantaged and LGBTQIA+ communities — giving them an opportunity to engage in an exciting program and foster inclusion in the in-demand tech area.
Event Infrastructure Incentive
Events scheduled between 30 July 2022 and 30 June 2023 can apply for up to $10,000 in matched funding as part of the Event Infrastructure Incentive Scheme. Funds can be used to hire, purchase, store or maintain temporary or permanent event infrastructure.
A delightful shopfront revamp
Melbourne Street's Heavenly Delights had a $10,000 makeover with the help of a Mainstreet Revitalisation and Improvement Grant. It was able to install French bi-folding doors, as well as a new entrance and signage. Find out how to spruce up your shopfront.
Turning to Business SA's Encore support a win for local trader
After teaching himself the ropes of business development over the past 18 months, Cocina Comida owner Reuben Williamson has turned to Business SA for extra support. He is taking part in Business SA’s Encore Program, which is designed to help traders open or expand a business through specialised workshops. He is using advice provided to help establish cooking classes at his Ebenezer Place cafe.
Vote in upcoming elections
The City of Adelaide is hosting an enrolment hub in Rundle Mall (Stephens Place) on Friday 15 July, between 11am – 2pm, to help you understand your voting entitlements and whether you can have your say in the Local Government election later this year.
Cruise-friendly businesses
The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) is partnering with the Australian Cruise Association (ACA) to deliver a workshop about the recommencement of cruising in South Australia. It is on Thursday 14 July 2022, 5 pm – 7 pm at the Crowne Plaza Adelaide. RSVP by 11 July 2022.
AEDA unpacks ABS Census data to give a snapshot of the city
City of Adelaide residents are younger, healthier, wealthier and more likely to be single in comparison to the rest of South Australia, latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data shows. ABS Census data revealed the population across the CBD and North Adelaide had grown by over 50 per cent since 2001, while residential occupancy figures proved Adelaide remained a popular place to live.
Fashion event announced
Showcasing the talents of emerging and established designers is at the heart of a new fashion event planned for the city in October 2022. AEDA will host a four-day festival, between 6 – 9 October, which includes Adelaide’s biggest shopping weekend.
$10m live music boost
Pubs, clubs, bars and businesses hosting or producing live music will be able to take advantage of the South Australian Government’s $10 million See It LIVE package. The package will kick-start a calendar of gigs, festivals and performances for 2022 and 2023.
