GOVERNANCE & ADMINISTRATION REVIEW

The LCA General Convention of Synod in 2013 adopted the following resolution:

THAT the GCC, consistent with the Strategic Direction of the LCA - especially regarding improving our 'Governance and Leadership capability' and being 'good stewards of our available resources' -  undertake a review of the current governance and administrative structures of the LCA including  at the National level, District level, Boards, Commissions, Councils and Agencies during the next  synodical  term.

GCC has appointed Dr Maureen Cleary as the external consultant to lead the review process. The first consultations begin this Saturday,
1 March 2014, and the review process will be concluded by early next year. This will enable consideration of its recommendations in the lead-up to and at the next LCA General Convention of Synod in late 2015 (more information about General Convention below).

This review is a significant initiative in the life of the LCA and we will keep the church informed of progress during the year. Read more...

This LCA Communications workshop, led by Jonathan Krause and Linda Macqueen, will held in Adelaide on Wednesday, 2 April. If there's sufficient interest, we'll run more of these workshops - on Saturdays and in other Districts. GENERAL CONVENTION OF SYNOD 2015

The next General Convention of Synod will be held 30 September -
4 October 2015 -- only 18 months away! -- in either New South Wales or South-East Queensland. It is proving difficult to find a venue that can hold 500-800 participants without being on each other’s laps, and at the right price.

In a break with tradition, General Pastors Conference will be held some months prior to General Convention and in a different District -- in South Australia, 7-9 July 2015.

One important feature of Convention preparation is the need for congregations to elect/appoint delegates by the end of January 2015. You need to think carefully about who should attend, and give them time to think about and plan for their attendance. Many people have to apply for annual leave well in advance, so please be thinking now about attending Convention (whether you're a delegate or not). They are always great experiences!
