Naumai mai haere mai to the Mānuka Charitable Trust - we're excited to see this new kaupapa come to life which will support  iwi, Māori industry and Government to work together to protect our  Mānuka taonga globally.

Chris Karamea Insley

The Mānuka Charitable Trust was established in 2020 as kaitiaki to lead the
mahi through engagement / consultation, in order to identify an enduring governance model with broad Māori support. It took over the work started by the Mānuka Honey Appellation Society and is supported by a Government investment administered by the Provincial Development Unit.  Nine trustees oversee and guide the work and its operating arm Te Pitau.

Collaborative Approach to addressing Protection of Mānuka

The Trust will support iwi, Māori industry and Government to work together to protect our taonga globally.

Regional Hui and Future Reporting/ Feedback

•  We intend to hold a series of specific hui over coming months regarding protection of Mānuka and related Mānuka issues for iwi, hapū, trusts and incorporations and other Māori interests.

•  These hui will also provide participants the opportunity to register for ongoing updates and feedback on the engagement process.

•  These workshops will be for technicians, and experts, working with iwi, hapū , trusts and incorporations, Mānuka bee keepers and kaitiaki progresses.
