You Can Lead a GROW Group

Every Sabbath, this church is full of future GROW Group leaders—people who have what it takes to connect with each other and grow disciples. In fact, there are probably hundreds of people who can lead a GROW group, but don't realize it. Yet.

You see, GROW Groups are about connecting with others; growing disciples through friendship, shared interests, and serving together. Leading a GROW Group simply requires that you be interested in something, and be willing to befriend some other people who are interested in the same thing. What you are interested in depends on you. You might be interested in an in-depth study of the fruit of the Spirit, or in making the perfect fruit salad.  Once a week, for 8-10 weeks you'll share this interest with others; building faith and community at the same time. We need GROW Groups of all kinds to disciple the thousands of people who attend PMC every week.

One of the important reasons that Christ came to live among us, not for a weekend, but for over thirty years, was so that we could have common ground (Hebrew 2:14-18). GROW Groups are a way to follow Christ's example by building common ground as we disciple each other.  Why not consider starting a GROW Group today?

Welcoming Sabine Vatel

Last Sabbath, Pastor Sabine Vatel was introduced to the Pioneer congregation. Pastor Vatel hails from Orlando, Florida, where she served for the past 7 years as the discipleship chaplain at Forest Lake Adventist Church. She received her Masters of Divinity from the Andrews University Seminary and holds degrees in Nursing and English as well. Pastor Vatel is a certified chaplain and previously served at Canadian University College and Washington Adventist University. Pastor Vatel will be providing leadership for GROW Groups and discipleship here at Pioneer. She will be spearheading a transforming initiative that will target individuals of all ages, following Pioneer’s discipleship theme: Connect Grow Serve Go.

We welcome Pastor Vatel to the PMC family.

A $1.1 TRILLION CHRISTMAS GIFT

Looks like everybody’s in the giving mood this Christmas. Two days before the deadline this week, Congress voted to approve a $1.1 trillion spending bill to avoid another disconcerting government shut-down. “Deck the Halls.” A few billion here, a few billion there, and suddenly with the proverbial speed of jolly old St. Nick’s “wink of his eye and a twist of his head” $1.1 trillion ends up on our national credit card. . . read more
