RE: COVID-19 Outbreak Update for Residents and Families: Calvary Haydon Retirement Community

Further to our update earlier today, we want to inform residents and families that at the time of writing, the number of COVID-positive residents has not changed since our notification of this morning. The number of confirmed positive cases remains eleven (11) residents and three (3) members of staff.

We can assure residents and families that Calvary care staff continue to closely monitor the health and wellbeing of all the residents in our care, and are in regular communication with all residents and families.

With the assistance of ACT Health, the retesting of residents and staff will occur again at site tomorrow and will continue at intervals as advised by ACT Health.

Residents and Families Information Session - Calvary and Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN)

Calvary, in close cooperation with Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) will be offering an online Zoom information session with an opportunity for questions and answers for all residents and families of the Calvary Haydon Retirement Community aged care home.

This meeting will allow you to ask questions you may have about the COVID-19 outbreak and how it affects you and your older family members. There will be a number of representatives from Calvary, OPAN, ACT Health and the Commonwealth Department of Health, amongst others, who will provide information and answer the questions you have.

For residents of the Calvary Haydon aged care home who would like to attend, staff on site will work with you individually to make arrangements. For residents or family members who are unable to attend, the session will be recorded by OPAN and made available to us to share with you following the meeting.

We will continue to contact the listed person responsible for each resident by phone on a daily basis and email an update with any developments. As the situation evolves at Calvary Haydon, please be assured that our dedicated staff are working hard to keep all residents safe from infection. Our staff are trained in strict infection prevention and control protocols and are providing care while wearing the appropriate PPE at all times.
