COVID-19 Vaccine Information
The COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer has started to find its way into the arms of physicians in Utah and around the country and the Moderna vaccine is not far behind.
And this is great news! But this news has also left some physicians wondering how and when they will be able to receive the vaccine, particularly those who work in private practice or more rural areas. WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW: - Sign up for the UDOH COVID vaccine updates - Sign up to receive COVID-19 vaccine every 1-2 weeks from UDOH using this online form.
- Submit your interest with UDOH to enroll as a COVID-19 vaccine provider -Read the requirements including a facility checklist and then complete the provider interest survey as soon as
possible. If approved for enrollment as a COVID-19 vaccine provider, your office may serve as an immunization provider for your patient population in later phases of vaccine distribution. If you have additional questions you can email covidvaxinquiry@utah.gov.
- Continue to check with the local health department that serves your area for updates – Keep in mind that many of our local health departments are still developing methods to inform their communities about vaccine distribution, including healthcare workers who are not receiving the vaccine through an employer. Many local health departments are still referring back to UDOH for vaccine info,
but UDOH is telling people to contact their local health departments. The best advice we can offer is to be both persistent and patient when seeking up-to-date information with these departments. Click here to access information for each of the 13 local area health departments in Utah.
Help us get a better idea of how many of our members have already received a vaccine or expect to soon by taking this very brief, five-question survey. It will help us find the most useful information and advocate on your behalf to make sure you and your staff receive the vaccine.

Support the Family Medicine Philanthropic Consortium With Your Donation
This year, UAFP member Dr. Chad Spain worked with Midvale Elementary School to apply for a Family Medicine Philanthropic Consortium (FMPC) Grant.
They found that access to new/clean clothing is a significant barrier to student attendance.
Through the funding from the FMPC Grant and clothing and financial donations from local donors, they sought to eliminate this barrier. The goal was to provide students, identified by the school as being ‘at risk’ (defined as children of poverty stricken families and those who do not have access to new/clean clothing), with new clothing and laundry detergent. The AAFP-Foundation’s FMPC supports programs like this through gifts from members like you! Help programs like this continue to support family medicine by giving to the FMPC. Select “Chapter Grants” when making your gift online at https://www.aafpfoundation.org/foundation/get-involved/give/donation-form.html. Thank you!
UAFP President
Isaac J. Noyes, M.D.
After a year of unprecedented political divide and health challenges, it is important to remember that Utah’s family physicians are the backbone of the state’s health care system; we strongly stand together taking care of our fellow Utahns. As your new UAFP president, I wanted to introduce myself. I grew up and attended medical school in Vermont, and moved to Utah in 2012 to complete a residency. I currently work full time as a hospitalist and in post-acute care in Salt Lake City. And, as a proud family trained doctor, I am optimistic for the year to come. Read more...
