When: Wednesday, June 30, 2021 Virtual Training 11th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Virtual Enhancement Training The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) is hosting a tribal-specific national training for tribal problem-solving courts. The Virtual Enhancement Training features wellness court best practices and innovative strategies. The training will be oriented around the Tribal Ten Key Components and the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) National Drug Court Standards. The Enhancement Training focuses on tribal issues, including jurisdictional and legal issues unique to Indian country; the incorporation of custom and tradition into the phases, case management, treatment curriculums, and tangential services; and the peer-to-peer sharing of successful healing to wellness courts models in operations. Training topics will cover the adult criminal, juvenile delinquency, family dependency, and veterans’ models. The checklist includes questions and recommendations that may help an agency increase the unit’s effectiveness and capacity. Specifically, it includes recommendations for staffing, communication, crime analysis products, technology, and resources. Webinar Motivational Conversation for Community Building—Learn the Skills Needed to Connect and Engage With the Communities We Serve Hosted by the Justice Clearinghouse and funded by the National Sheriffs’ Association, this webinar will discuss the need for community building and motivational conversation. Motivational conversation is a method where building relationships through the use of well-placed questions will lead to better relationships with the public. The necessity for good relationships between the criminal justice system and the public is vitally important. Participants can build good relationships with communities by understanding how those relationships are influenced by several different perspectives.
