Niagara Region wins gold at national public relations awards

Niagara Region was recognized for excellence in communication with a 2026 Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) National Award of Excellence for their work on the Region’s 2026 Budget Campaign.

The CPRS National Awards of Excellence celebrates the best in communications and public relations programs, projects and organizational excellence from across Canada. This year’s event recognized 95 winners across 35 categories.

The 2026 Budget Campaign set out to educate and engage with Niagara residents about Niagara Region’s 2026 Budget. The campaign worked to reach residents in all 12 local municipalities with a key goal of initiating meaningful conversations and collecting feedback about Niagara Region’s programs and services.

Over 1,000 pieces of resident feedback about the Region’s programs and services were received throughout this exercise. The top seven themes were distilled from the feedback and were presented to Regional Council for their information to support the 2026 Budget.

“The award is an incredible accomplishment for Niagara Region and a proud moment for our team,” said Michelle Sergi, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Niagara Region. “To earn gold on a national stage alongside some of Canada’s most recognized brands is truly exciting. We are very grateful for this recognition and will continue to strive for excellence in how we engage with our residents.”

Established in 1962, the National Awards of Excellence encourage the highest standards in public relations and communications by recognizing outstanding campaigns, programs and tactics.
