Ward 1 is having a neighborhood meeting at Larson Park on July 21 at 6 p.m. Residents are invited to meet with Council Members Randall Peterson and Ashley Witkovich. Topics will include No Need for Speed/Traffic Concerns and they will answer your questions. All residents are invited to get involved with the update to our comprehensive plan: Looking Up! A Vision for Northglenn’s Future. Housing, economy, parks and trails, transportation, sustainability and more... weigh in on what Northglenn tackles in the next 10 years! View the plan's engagement website at www.northglenn.org/lookingup. Resident input is key to the creation of this long range document that reflects the community’s vision, values, and goals for the future of the City. There are two ways you can be directly involved in shaping the plan and guiding public engagement, either as a Neighborhood Champion or by joining the Resident Task Force. Neighborhood Champions will engage with neighbors to discuss the many topics included in the comprehensive plan. Due to intensity of responsibilities, Champions will be provided a $500 stipend. Apply by July 21! Members of the Resident Task Force will act as the primary drivers of what is included in the plan. The application deadline for the Resident Task Force has been extended to Friday, July 23. We are getting so excited to open the doors for everyone to enjoy the new Northglenn Recreation Center, Senior Center and Theatre – which we can say now should be in early October! In the meantime, plenty of work is still to be done! Some of the installation in June included site irrigation, play structures at the preschool playground, new and relocated theatre equipment, underlayment of the gymnasium floor, and the outdoor tube slide for the pool. For more information, or to see a live camera view of the construction site, go to www.northglenn.org/newreccenter. You only have two more chances to enjoy a summer movie at the park! Join us on Wednesday, July 21 and 28 at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park and bring the whole family. No registration required! Visit www.northglennarts.org for more information. The Teddy Bear Picnic is back for its 29th year! Join us on July 22 at 10 a.m. at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park for some fun for kids and their favorite stuffed pals. Bring a blanket to sit on and your own picnic snack. Featured entertainment by Tiny Mule Music. Great for Pre-K to early elementary kids and their fuzzy friends. This is a FREE event! Join our HEAL committee on July 23 for another free community bike ride throughout the city! Meet at the Rec Center around 5:15 p.m., depart at 5:30 p.m. All ages & skill levels are welcome! Most household items are accepted; a list of prohibited items can be found at www.northglenn.org/dumpsterdays. It's America's Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 3! Come out and meet your neighbors, city officials, police and fire personnel at National Night Out (NNO) from 5-8 p.m. We’re not quite ready to have potlucks at neighborhood homes, so the event will be hosted at one park in each ward. Residents are invited to congregate and enjoy a wonderful Northglenn summer evening. Locations: Bands will be playing and giveaways available. Food trucks will be on-site so you can purchase food or dessert, or you can bring your own meal. For specific information about bands and food trucks at each park – including links so you can pre-order your food the day of the event – go to www.northglenn.org/nno. Join us for the first concert series at the Stonehocker House, Northglenn’s oldest remaining home, built in 1903. Megan Burtt, an international touring singer/songwriter, will be performing on August 5 from 6-9 p.m. The Stonehocker House is located at 10950 Fox Run Parkway. Following a more relaxed “house concert” feel, the event will allow a maximum of 75 people. The artist will be performing on the porch with attendees in the lawn area. Tickets are $25, which includes two beverages. Purchase online at https://northglenn.ticketspice.com/stonehocker-porch-concerts. Food Truck Grab 'N Go events are back in August! Find delicious food at parks throughout Northglenn on August 12, 19 and 26. You don’t need to register – just stop by, order and pay for your food, then enjoy live music on a beautiful summer evening. For the full schedule and locations, or to find out which food trucks will be at each site, go online to www.northglenn.org/grabngo. You may even be able to order before you arrive at the park (which is recommended). |
