A HEARING HEART – A HERMENEUTICS STUDY
‘How are we hearing Scripture?’ In October 2011 this question was addressed by theologians from across the Lutheran world at a symposium in Tanunda, South Australia. In response to this symposium Dr Greg Lockwood has produced a booklet of a series of devotions as a study of what theologians call hermeneutics. Copies were given to every synod delegate earlier in the year and further copies are available for $5.00 each + postage from the LCA National Office. To order copies please contact lca.administration@lca.org.au.

GROW MINISTRIES NATIONAL CONFERENCE
At LCA General Synod in April this year Grow Ministries (LCA Child Youth and Family Ministry) was launched. A new phase of ministry to children, young people and their families began. You and the leadership of your congregation are invited to attend the very first Grow Ministries National Conference: Re-thinking Child, Youth and Family Ministry, September 5-6, 2013 in Brisbane.  Presenters include Pastor Greg Priebbenow, Lead Pastor St John’s Lutheran Church, Bundaberg, Monty Lysne, Director of Discipleship Ministries, St Peter’s Lutheran Church Loxton and Jo Jones, Grow Ministries Resource Coordinator. The conference will help you and your leaders re-think the way we do ministry to children, young people and their families; and think about how CYFM can become part of the DNA of your congregation, from your Church Council to your worship team and your ministry to parents and families. For more information, please contact Leah Cronin leah.cronin@lca.org.au for a copy of the brochure and registration form.

2013 FRITZSCHE ORATION
Rev Dr Mark Worthing will deliver the address for the 2013 Fritzsche Oration at Australian Lutheran College (ALC) on Monday, 12 August at 7.30pm. The title for his presentation is ‘Theological adventurism among early Australian Lutherans: the strange case of Pastor August Kavel’s protestations against the Lutheran Confessions’. To book, please contact ALC reception on (08) 8267 7400.
The Fritzsche Oration is an initiative of Lutheran Archives and the Australian Lutheran Institute for Theology and Ethics (ALITE), part of Australian Lutheran College (ALC). The oration highlights the contribution of theologians of the Church to the history of Australian Lutheranism. In the early 1840s Gotthard Fritzsche opened a small college in Lobethal SA to provide theological education for pastors and teachers, inspiring generations of theological training in Australia.
