Decade of Act-Belong-CommitIt’s been ten years since the state-wide launch of Act-Belong-Commit, and the newly released 2018 Annual Impact Statement highlights the impact of working in partnership to create a more mentally healthy WA. Through this partnership in 2018, Healthway supported 122 arts, sports and community events to promote the Act-Belong-Commit health message, and we co-sponsored the Mentally Healthy Schools Program. New healthier vendor guideThe WA School Canteen Association works in partnership with many Healthway sponsored organisations to provide advice about how to increase healthy food options at events. The 2019 Autumn Healthier Vendor Guide is designed to make it easier for event organisers to find suitable food vendors who offer a large range of healthier food options. Find out more.
Image: Renato Fiori Festival inspires Martu youthPromoting the Make Smoking History message we are proud to support the Martu Youth Festival which is a celebration of local sport, music and culture. The festival plays an important role in creating pathways for sports players and local musicians to engage with industry leaders outside the Western Desert, and contributes to improving healthy lifestyles and a vibrant Martu community. Find out more.Blowing time on smokingOur new partnership with Rugby League in Western Australia helps to deliver programs, competitions and pathways for young people to play rugby league, engage in regular physical activity and ultimately adopt a healthy lifestyle. The Referee Program offers the opportunity to promote the Smarter than Smoking message on all the referee uniforms and touch judges during the WA Premiership Season. Clubs competing in a recognised 2019 winter sporting competition can apply for up to $4,000 to increase healthy eating options at club-run canteens and kiosks. Find out more. Wellness at workThe Healthway and Lotterywest health and wellness program has just been awarded silver status under Healthier Workplace WA's Recognised Healthy Workplace program. We have comprehensive wellness policies and procedures, facilities and infrastructure that encourage healthy behaviours and provide education sessions that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of all staff.
