NEW: My Local MetricsAdd your own local data to the LG Inform database alongside the 5,000+ data items already available, either for private use internally or to share with other subscribing organisations. Contact us for more details. Record Of Processing Activity (ROPA)Following discussions with the Knowledge Hub General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Local Government online community, the LGA is extending the LG Inform Plus current 'Records Retention' core data service so that local authorities can each build and store their own Record Of Processing Activity (ROPA) template to populate with local information required by the act. Through the online community, we’ll go on discussing what the ROPA should look like and help one another make further improvements. To join the online community, click this link, or let us know by email to the Support Team if you’d like to stay in touch with the work. You may also be interested in this series of blogs on GDPR from the Information Commissioner’s Office. Fire authorities wantedOver the years, we have worked with individual fire authorities and various Family Groups to make LG Inform more useful to fire authorities. Most recently, we have been working with the South West Fire Performance and Benchmarking Group to develop a voluntary benchmarking club for fire related metrics. Benchmarking Club Q3 2017/18 now openWe are pleased to let you know that the LG Inform Benchmarking Club collection window for Q3 2017/18 data is now open. We’re really encouraged by the numbers of councils who share data via our benchmarking exercise each quarter. Many users have recently given us feedback about how they are using the data we collect via the Benchmarking Club. Respondents mentioned using the data to help analyse local and national trends, draw comparisons, gain contextual information, develop dashboards, identify performance issues, support managers and members, produce internal reports, support scrutiny functions, validate figures and to generally understand more about their council’s performance. We’re delighted to see that the data is helping councils to learn, build and improve. You can click here to view our collection of benchmarking reports now. Brownfield Land datasets are liveThe deadline for issuing councils’ first open public Brownfield Land registers has passed and we’ve detected more than 80 registered datasets. You can use the LG Inform Plus open data aggregator to get one big spreadsheet of all the datasets combined. Remember that, for each council’s dataset to be detected automatically, it needs to be registered with data.gov.uk against the Brownfield Land schema. Email us if you need guidance.
