Cast Iron Care

If you do nothing else

Hand wash and dry immediately. Rub with a light coat of vegetable oil after every use.

Seasoning

"Seasoning" is a coat of vegetable oil baked onto the iron at a high temperature. The resulting black patina provides easy release properties. Because YOU create, maintain and repair the seasoning, your cookware can last 100 years or more.

Lodge Cookware Has Arrived !

Acworth Bookstore is excited to announce the arrival of Lodge Cast Iron Cookery as well as DVD's, Manuals, Scrapers etc.

Rust? - Don't Panic

Without seasoning, cookware can rust. It is easy to fix. Scour the rust, rinse and dry, rub with a little vegetable oil. You may need to re-season.

When It's Hot, It's Hot

Cast iron keeps the heat, so turn down the temperature and save en energy. Lodge cookware is at home on any heat source other than the microwave.
