Every first Thursday, Weavers Way members are invited to view and discuss a free documentary film at Mt. Airy Read & Eat, 7141 Germantown Ave. This month, Speciesism (speciesismthemovie.org; 2013) asks a big question: Can we continue to justify the notion that animals are fit material to cultivate for human consumption? Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Mt. Airy USA
 

Guess Who's Back for Dinner?

Mt. Airy USA's signature fundraising event is Saturday, April 18,  7-10 p.m., at the Commodore Barry Club, 6815 Emlen St. This year, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner debuts a new theme – Build Your Mt. Airy – celebrating the many ways that Mt. Airy USA works with our partners to build a strong community. The program includes cocktails, dinner, music by Deb Callahan and a silent and live auction. Free Street Trees from WMAN

The West Mt. Airy Neighbors Streetscapes Committee is again participating in the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Tree Tender Bare Root Street Tree Planting Program. Trees are free and will be planted by trained volunteers in November — the Committee has planted over 500 trees since 2007.
