How can London’s community organisations take action on climate change?
Wednesday 21 April
2pm - 3.30pm
We all know that the climate emergency is one of the greatest challenges we face as a society. This decade will have to be one of urgent action if we are to achieve “net zero” (taking more carbon out of the atmosphere than we are putting into it) by 2030. But how can communities take action on climate change? At this event you’ll hear from some great speakers and have the chance to: - Learn about Carbon Literacy and taking first steps
to understanding Climate Change
- Hear what members are already doing to take action and find out about opportunities to collaborate
- Find out about relevant funding activity (e.g. Future Neighbourhoods)

At Cross River Partnership's next ‘Lunchtime Launch’ event, Debbie Akehurst, Chief Executive of Midtown BID, and Katherine Fleming, Operations Director at The Northbank BID, two of CRP’s neighbouring Business Improvement District partners, will be showcasing their sustainability aims and
innovative projects to support businesses in building back greener and cleaner post-Covid.
CRP’s Fiona Coull will deliver an interactive learning session on sustainability and business. In particular, she will be covering CRP’s Greening programme, which brought together Business Improvement Districts to deliver 19 Green Infrastructure Audits and 16 installations, including rain gardens, green walls and green roofs, across central London. Additionally, Fiona will be speaking about parklets and their importance for outdoor trading and business in times of government restrictions on retail and hospitality. MORE DETAILS & TO BOOK

Mental Health Awareness Week
This year Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 10th - 16th May and the theme is nature and the environment, particularly pertinent given recent experiences around the importance of accessing nature and green spaces for mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. Free Seeds
For Barnet's Community Groups
Via Wendy from Incredible Edible
Incredible Edible Barnet will be growing a few culturally diverse food plants for the first time to try and make our community garden more accessible. People from ethnic minorities in our community may cook with these plants - Amaranth, Dudi, Luffa and Sharks Fin Melon - but they are hard to buy in the shops. If you have space to try and grow any of these plants get in touch and we will happily send you some seeds. The Heritage Seed Library kindly provided the Amaranth and Dudi seeds so there are lots of these in particular to go around. And if you have any growing tips or recipes we would love to hear from you! https://www.facebook.com/IncredibleEdibleBarnet/ ie.barnet@yahoo.co.uk https://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/hsl
