A VISIT TO MILDURA

On September 3 Jodi and Vicki made a trip to sunny Mildura for a fantastic day with the people of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and staff from Trinity Lutheran College. It was a great day of sharing and learning together. Rethinking the way we can participate in the faith journey of all people, including the children, young people and families that we walk with.

Thank you for hosting us and we look forward to seeing the impact you have as a community as you use the tools learnt to enhance your mission and vision for the Mildura region.

If you are interested in participating in a rethinking discussion, see the article below for opportunities coming soon in QLD, SA and VIC.

GUIDING PRINCIPLE #1

Children, young people and their families are nurtured for life in Jesus Christ through vital engagement with God’s word and the rituals, traditions and practices of Christian faith.

The family is the most powerful influence of the faith formation of children and teenagers.
Parents are the first educators of their children and provide the foundation for spiritual life. As congregations and leaders how can we strengthen and expand faith formation?

Family life has changed significantly in the last forty years. As congregations and church leaders it is essential that we move forward and rethink how we can assist and encourage families to continue growing in their faith together.

RETHINKING CONFERENCES - QLD | SA | VIC

For many congregations and families, sharing the Christian faith with children and youth is an area of struggle and challenge. Culture and society has changed so much, raising many new questions, issues and pressures.  This isn’t about a new program or theory, but instead remembering the ways God showed us to incorporate ministry into our everyday lives…..

We invite you to join us in rethinking child, youth and family ministry for a new time and a new age. The topics covered will include:

  • What does it mean to form faith in children and youth?
  • What seems to work best and why?
  • How can we partner with and support Christian families today?
  • How can we bring the Good News of Jesus to unchurched children, youth and families?

We are excited to announce that we have a special guest joining us. INTERNATIONAL GUEST SPEAKER..Rev. Dr. David Anderson!

David is Co-Director at Milestones Ministry and has written numerous books and articles on partnering home and congregation in faith formation.  You may remember David from The Child in our Hands Conference that toured Australia in 2003. We are very excited to have David joining the Grow Team for a period of 3 months.

David has been married to Gloria for over 40 years. Together they have raised two children (Kirsten and Jeremy). They have been blessed with six granddaughters, all of whom live within minutes of each other. Their family life has allowed them to actively engage in the faith practices David has been teaching over the years.
